Pay US CBP import tariffs
In July 2025, the US Customs and Border Protection Agency announced new import tariffs from most countries in the world, including a 10% import tariff on almost all goods from the United Kingdom. In response, in late August 2025, dozens of international postal carriers announced the suspension of delivery services to the US, including the UK’s Royal Mail. Royal Mail has now restarted package services to the US for most business customers, including BeltBolt. However, we will have to pay US customs import fees upfront before they are accepted into the UK’s delivery network.
If you ordered from BeltBolt after 28th August 2025, selecting a delivery address within the US will automatically apply a 10% US CBP tariff fee to your order, which we pay before posting your items. You will not be charged any additional tariff fees upon import.
However, if you ordered from BeltBolt prior to 28th August 2025 and set your delivery address to within the United States of America, BeltBolt will be charged your import tariffs before being able to post your goods, but you will be liable for paying US CBP tariffs regardless. Regardless, we will be unable to send your order via Royal Mail without paying your US CBP tariff fees. Please use the form on this page to pay your import fees; you will not be charged any additional import fees when your order arrives at the US border.
This only affects customers who selected Royal Mail international services for postage to the US. If you ordered items to any other country, or selected UPS services for delivery prior to, you will not be charged up-front for US CBP fees, but may be liable for fees upon import. We withdrew the option for UPS delivery to the US on 29th August 2025 until we are able to update our billing software; if you ordered using UPS delivery options prior to this date, do not use this payment option; you will instead be charged by UPS upon import to the US as normal.
US CBP calculates the import fees as 10% of the declared customs value, which is the amount you paid for your BeltBolt order, minus postage. You can verify the amount charged with your order confirmation email; the “Subtotal” amount minus any “Discount” amount is the customs order assessed, and dividing this by 10 gives the liable fees.
Example
Below is an example from a BeltBolt order confirmation email.
Subtotal: | £90.00 | |
---|---|---|
Discount: | -£18.00 | |
Shipping: Royal Mail International Tracked and Signed | £16.50 | |
Total: | £88.50 |
In this example, the customs amount assessed would be £90.00 – £18.00, equalling £72.00. Dividing this amount by 10 results in the import tariff fee of £7.20.
Royal Mail’s new system adds the US to the PDDP network, meaning it is provable that all import fees have been paid upon import to the United States. Your order’s postage label will display a “PDDP” symbol and show as import fees paid to USPS & US CBP, meaning it will pass through US CBP without being assessed for extra fees.
