UV printing service
Artist consent for UV printing
With our upcoming UV printing service, we will be able to adorn our restraints with all sorts of complex, full-colour artwork. If you’d like to use artwork you commissioned or would like to commission from an artist on your restraints, we’ll gladly provide this for you, provided we have consent to use it.
This page outlines why we need consent from artists, how to ask for it and how to provide proof. If you are an artist, this page also has information on how we use artwork you consent to us printing, allows you to provide consent and provides information on how we verify it’s really you.
Information for artists
If you are an artist who is working on or has completed artwork for a customer who would like to have their artwork printed on our restraints, we are very happy to facilitate this, though we take steps to make sure you are comfortable with what’s produced.
If a customer has sent you this page
If you have come across this page or have been sent it by a customer and would like to allow them to print your artwork on their restraints, please read the information below, after which you can use our online form to provide your consent.
If a customer has sent you this page and you are not interested in providing your consent, please tell them as such, and contact us if you would like to prevent us from inquiring about any of your artwork in future.
What you consent to and what you can control
If you would like to facilitate a customer’s request, we are bound by the following:
-
We can print the specific artwork you describe in the consent form on a specific customer’s restraint(s) straps; only the described artwork and only for this single customer.
-
You can set restrictions on how it’s presented, printed, associated and anything else within your terms of service or terms of use if you wish.
-
You can provide print-ready source files with us under standard service provider usage licences without sharing them with customers if you wish.
-
You can require that you approve proofs of the printing layout and design files before they go to print if you wish.
-
If you charge fees for printing rights, we can hold on final shipping until you receive payment from your customer if you wish.
-
You can require that we don’t post photographs of the finished restraints if you wish. We cannot control what our customers do when they have the restraints, though; that would have to be dealt with by your own policy.
Verifying that it’s really you
We take artist consent really seriously and want to do our due diligence to make sure it’s actually the artist providing consent. How this works is:
- You submit the artist consent form below.
- We show you and email you a unique code that you can copy once you submit the form, and provide clear instructions on how to send it to us.
- You email us from your publicly listed email address or direct message us on one of our public accounts from your art account with this code, or simply reply to the email you get from us after submitting this form.
This ensures that even if someone gives the right contact information for you, you’ll have to proactively message us to provide the verification code.
You can choose to verify using your public email address, your Twitter/X account, your Bluesky account, your Fetlife account or your FurAffinity account. You should only ever send verification codes to the address or account provided. Our official channels are:
- Any email address that ends in @beltbolt.co.uk
- @BeltBoltUK on Twitter/X
- beltbolt.co.uk on Bluesky
- BeltBolt on Fetlife
- BeltBolt on FurAffinity
If you choose to verify with a social media account, we’ll check to see it’s your actual account and not an impersonator.
If you are providing artwork files
We have provided artwork preparation guidance for artists and customers who wish to prepare their own artwork suitable for print.
If you would like to offer your artwork an an option for more customers
We are planning on operating a programme in the future which allows a number of artists to configure restraints which they can design artwork for, and which would provide revenue to artists for each print made.
We’re not ready to launch this yet, but if you are interested, please get in touch! If you are not providing consent for a specific customer right now, please use this contact link and we’ll chat over email!
Revocation of your consent
You can revoke your consent at any point before artwork is physically printed on the restraints. To do this, please contact us.
Information for art commissioners & our customers
You are welcome to request any artwork you like to be printed on your restraints using our UV printing service! However, we are legally and ethically bound to ensure that both you as a customer and we as a manufacturer have the rights to reproduce this artwork, and that the artist gives their consent for this use.
If you would like to use artwork you have commissioned yourself
If you commissioned artwork yourself, please contact the artist and ask them for permission to use your artwork for this one-time print service. Depending on your agreement with your artist, they may charge you for the rights needed to avail of our service.
If you are planning to commission artwork, or are in the process of doing so and and are hoping to print the commissioned artwork using this service, please mention to them early in the process so that if they consent to it, they can plan for it, and potentially adjust pricing accordingly.
You can send your artist this page if they have any questions, and they can contact us at any time if they need additional information.
If you would like to use artwork you didn’t commission yourself
If you have found artwork by an artist that you would like to use on your restraints, please contact the artist to discuss it. You may need to purchase the rights from them to avail of our printing service.
You can send your artist this page if they have any questions, and they can contact us at any time if they need additional information.
We will always side with the artist
We have deliberately chosen to allow artists to determine how their art is used and to collect licencing fees for our UV printing service. Artists may require that we hold off on final shipment of printed restraints until licencing fees are paid, require that they provide approval of design proofs before printing, and may choose to limit how their artwork is used for any lawful reason.
We will never print artwork we have not received demonstrable consent to use. In certain cases, we may accept a clear legal agreement that sets out reproduction rights, but in most cases we will require artists to provide their written consent to us directly.
If we receive consent to print the artwork you would like applied to a specific order, this does not allow us to use them again, and it does not extend to you printing your own versions. We receive consent to print specific artwork for a specific order, so unless an artist is publicly associated with us and has clearly provided their artwork for customer prints more generally through our UV printing service, our consent applies to your original order only and does not apply to future orders or to your own printing rights.
We refuse service for harassment, coercion and copyright infringement. If you continually harass an artist to try to secure their consent, attempt to coerce them into saying yes or try to trick us or an artist about who holds what rights, we will refuse service.
If we do not receive consent
If we don’t receive consent from your artist to print the artwork you would like, we will either work with you to arrive at another printing option you would like, or we will refund the amount you paid for our UV printing service.
